Biography
Jennifer Spector and husband David Tieman moved to the Puget Sound area in 2006 to begin taking the Northwest by storm. Jennifer was one of Phoenix, Arizona's most popular folk musicians and David was a highly respected jazz musician & fellow acoustic composer. They now perform as a newly named power duo "The Hayburners". These long-time music partners take their audiences on a bicycle built for two of award-winning music, strong vocal harmonies and wedded bliss. They perform all-original rootsy Americana, Folk and Jazzy tunes with excellent musicianship and lively banter.
They released their self-titled CD The Hayburners in June 2008. It features 5 songs from each of this talented pair and features special guest artists from both Arizona and Washington. This includes Mike Smith, pedal steel (Gatlin Brothers) and Zak Borden, mandolin (Grammy Nominated Kate MacKenzie, Rachel Harrington) Nova Karina Devonie, accoridion (Sugar Hill Records),among others.
Soon after the move, Jennifer Spector received her first songwriting award in her new home state of Washington at the Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland, WA. She had already been a national finalist at the 2004 prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festivals' Troubadour Competition for songwriting and twice at the Tucson Folk Festival's national honors. She has shared the stage with folk-greats David Wilcox and Christine Lavin and toured regularly around the Southwest.
Besides being recognized as a great songwriter himself, David Tieman's guitar playing was high in demand live and in the studio around the Phoenix Valley and in Washington State. He currently has about 35 private guitar students in the Seattle area. In their 2008 release, his song "Bluegrass Band" made it all the way to #19 on the National Folk Radio DJ list! He performed regularly with the SOS (Sounds of Swing) Big Band of Bellevue, WA and on occasion with multiple jazz/rock groups in and around the Puget Sound area.
Together, they developed a new international songwriting contest called Indie International
They recently re-lauched their pet projects of all pet projects to help artists, and help spread their indie music around the world.
